PVC extrusion dies require proper maintenance and storage during daily use. Below is a detailed overview of the key points.
I. Maintenance of PVC Extrusion Dies
Improper handling during disassembly and reassembly is one of the main causes of die damage. Therefore, disassembly and reassembly should always be performed by qualified personnel.
Copper (beryllium copper) tools should be used when disassembling and servicing the die head to avoid damaging the die surface.
The mating surfaces (sealing surfaces) of the die head can be dressed with a fine oilstone or metallographic sandpaper.
Before installation, the flow channel should be polished with metallographic sandpaper to a low roughness and coated with a thin layer of silicone ester. This helps minimize corrosion of the flow channel caused by moisture and gases during long-term storage.
During installation, all load-bearing surfaces and threads of bolts and screws must be coated with high-temperature lubricating grease (7020).
When disassembling the sizing die, take care to avoid impacts and collisions. During reassembly, install the plates in the order indicated by their sequence numbers.
During routine maintenance of the water tank, ensure that adequate adjustment clearance is left on all four sides after the sizing block is installed.
II. Storage of Extrusion Dies
Dies should be stored in a dry, clean, and well-ventilated warehouse. They must never be stored together with corrosive materials.
After use, dies must be thoroughly cleaned and reassembled, then oil-sealed before being returned to storage.
Dies should be kept on dedicated die storage racks to ensure safe placement and convenient access.
