PVC Conduit Production Line: Technical Analysis on Installation and Wiring Standards

Ningbo Fangli Technology Co., Ltd. is a mechanical equipment manufacturer with over 30 years’ experiences of plastic pipe extrusion equipment, new environmental protection and new materials equipment. Since its establishment Fangli has been developed based on user’s demands. Through continuous improvement, independent R&D on the core technology and digestion & absorption of advanced technology and other means, we have developed PVC pipe extrusion line, PP-R pipe extrusion line, PE water supply / gas pipe extrusion line, which was recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Construction to replace imported products. We have gained the title of “First-class Brand in Zhejiang Province”.

In the PVC conduit manufacturing industry, scientifically planned installation and standardized wiring of the production line are not only the foundation for stable continuous operation but also a critical prerequisite for achieving finished product quality compliance. This article provides a systematic technical overview from four dimensions: equipment layout, power load configuration, key forming process points, and finished product quality inspection criteria.

I. Power Load Planning and Cable Selection Principles

The electrical configuration of the production line must be calculated based on total equipment power, starting current, and continuous operating conditions. A three-phase five-wire power supply system is recommended, with strict segregation between power circuits and control loops:

· Main drive motors and heating units: Use 16mm² or larger copper-core flame-retardant cables (e.g., ZR-YJV type), with current-carrying capacity verified against actual installed load.

· Auxiliary equipment (cooling systems, haul-off units, cutters): Use 6–10mm² cables, each equipped with independent overload protection devices.

· Lighting and control circuits: Use 2.5mm² insulated wires, routed separately from power lines to avoid electromagnetic interference.

All cables must be protected within flame-retardant PVC conduits or flexible metal conduits. The conduit routing shall be vertical and horizontal with firm fixation, and sufficient slack shall be reserved for future maintenance access.

II. Key Technical Requirements for Installation and Wiring

1. Conduit Bending Specifications

· Bending operations shall be performed slowly using dedicated bending springs, with the bending radius no less than 3 times the conduit outer diameter.

· In cold environments, local preheating (40–60°C) is required at the bending section to prevent cold cracking.

· If the bending spring becomes stuck, rotate it counterclockwise while pulling outward steadily. Forced extraction is prohibited to avoid spring deformation or conduit wall damage.

2.Conduit Fixing and Identification

· All surface-mounted conduits shall be secured with clamps at intervals not exceeding 1.0 meter.

· Joints shall be made with dedicated connectors and sealed with PVC cement.

· Each circuit terminal shall be clearly labeled with voltage rating, connected equipment, and phase sequence to facilitate future operation and maintenance.

III. Finished Product Quality Control – Factory Inspection Standards

For conduit manufacturers, establishing a rigorous finished product inspection protocol is essential to earning market confidence. It is recommended that each batch undergoes at least the following five basic tests:

IV. On-Site Safety and Regulatory Compliance Recommendations

· The main distribution cabinet shall be equipped with residual current protection and phase-loss protection devices.

· Cables in heating zones must use high-temperature silicone insulation and be kept away from heat source outlets.

· It is recommended to perform insulation resistance testing (≥2 MΩ) on all circuits every quarter, with test records properly archived.

· All electrical installations must comply with applicable local standards, such as GB 50258-96 "Code for Installation and Acceptance of Electrical Equipment" or equivalent international codes (e.g., IEC 60364 series), as well as local fire safety regulations.
